Tomorrow is being prepared today.
Thanks to Equinor and the Norwegian Cycling Federation, a junior competition has been held during the first seven editions the Arctic Race of Norway. This event brought together 7 Norwegian team and 5 international ones to reveal the future talents, offering them the same conditions than the professionals and an unmatched exposure.
Former World Champion Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjå confirms: “I think it should be hard, so we can single out the pros. We wish to stimulate those who work hardest and to help them get further in their careers”
Thor Hushovd prefers to retain the international development of the race “This race gives junior riders the chance to compete at the same arena as their role models and I think it works as a motivation for them to work harder and achieve their goals. In my experience it seems that the race has gained international attention, with an increase in riders from around the world.”
The best example of success is Kristoffer Halvorsen, the winner of the first edition. He then took part in the Arctic Race of Norway in 2016 and 2017 with Team Joker, became U23 World Champion in 2016 before joining Team Sky and EF - Education First. He is now riding again for a Norwegian team, Team Uno-X.
Equinor is a proud sponsor of the future. The energy company supports the greatest Norwegian talents in biology, sports and culture. The reason why is simple: our most precious resource is human, not oil nor gas nor wind nor sun.
