Alexander Kristoff (Uno-X Mobility): “The situation always felt under control”

August 4 th 2024 - 19:38

Coming out of the Tour de France, my shape is good. It was a bit hard to cope with the climb, but I knew that I could survive on it given the numbers I was producing in training. The team brought me to a very good spot coming into the final kilometers, and I could wait to start my sprint at the right time. Some strong guys tried to overtake me from one side in the final straight, yet the situation always felt under control.

We put Rasmus Tiller to control the bunch. We have a really strong squad here, without a single pure helper as we have lined up our ‘top team’. Rasmus had to do most of the pulling, which is quite unusual for him, yet he is strong that he could do it on his own. It was a very impressive display from him, and also from the rest of the team as we had a lot of manpower left in the final.

I personally want to try and win the stage tomorrow, but the team’s priority is the overall victory. Tomorrow’s can be a very hard stage, as the starting kilometers are tough and a powerful breakaway might go clear. We need to be ready for that, but we have good guys to go in that break if needed. I’m not too afraid, yet defending this Midnight Sun jersey can prove hard.
