“Much more than just a race”. The Arctic Race of Norway seeks to connect with all inhabitants of Northern Norway. The speakers have a prominent role in the animation of the finish area, however, this could exclude people who are hearing impaired. In Norway, sign language has been recognized as an official language since 2009, so it was necessary to go along with this dynamic.
To make the race more inclusive, the Arctic Race of Norway has decided to use the giant screen in the finish area to translate every sentence of the speaker into sign language. In order to make it possible, two people are installed in the bus where the speaker is located and take turns to transcribe him. The camera filming them is then connected directly to the giant screen so that each person can follow the race regardless of their level of hearing.
